Payung Island Residents Happy to Get Access to Clean Water

One of Payung Island community leaders, Jamaludin expressed his gratitude because Payung Island now can access clean water through Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO).

For now, it is still free to access the water

"Alhamdulillah, we are very happy because we can access clean water to drink, cook, for bathing and washing," he said on the sidelines of SWRO inauguration in Payung Island, Tidung Island Urban Village, South Thousand Islands, Wednesday (11/20).

According to him, water meter installation in 51 houses in Payung Island have been integrated with PDAM as the operator. Not only fulfilling resident need of clean water, this SWRO installation also absorb manpower from the locals to be the security and operator.

IPA SWRO Construction in Thousand Islands Has Reached 30 Percent

"For now, it is still free to access the water. But from the beginning of next year, we will be charged for usage," he mentioned.

Thousand Islands Regent, Husein Murad conveyed, formerly residents of Payung Island used groundwater and brackish water to fulfill their daily need of water.

He assessed, SWRO has bigger capacity, better technology and able to reach all residents in Thousand Islands.

"Importantly, we are happy and welcoming it, moreover SWROs are also built in several islands," he conveyed.
